About - Avishek Choudhury

Many thanks for visiting my website, my name is Avishek Choudhury, I am a UK based singer-songwriter from Blackpool (Lancashire).

Music has always been my biggest passion from writing, creating & recording music to performing music on the stage at various live music venues. I sing, play the piano and the acoustic guitar.

I started my journey as a singer-songwriter back in June 2012, at this time I was at college. I played my very first open mic night at The Blue Room in Blackpool (08/07/2012).

From September 2013 to July 2016, I was based in Barnsley (South Yorkshire) whilst I was doing my undergraduate degree. During that time, alongside my degree, I performed at as many gigs as I could, making the most of the opportunities I had, like: radio play on 'BBC Introducing in Sheffield' & Sine FM, and performing at the '02 Academy' in Sheffield & 'Sheffield City Hall' as part of a couple of competitions. As well as that, I got to check out a lot of talented musicians along the way at various gigs / festivals including 'Live in Barnsley' & 'Tramlines', which helped me learn and hone my craft as a singer-songwriter.

In January 2017, I moved back to Blackpool. After releasing my single, 'Do What You Gotta Do' - May 2017, I played at my first live broadcast at BBC Radio Lancashire for BBC Music Introducing.

May 2018, I was invited to play at the BBC Music Introducing stage at the Festival Of Making in Blackburn.

I collaborated with an up & coming producer called, Samuriium. We met at a networking event organised by the Songwriting Academy in London - we released our single, 'Silhouette' in April 2019. September 2019 I played at the O2 Academy 2 in Islington (London) raising money for Children In Need.

I have many influences from the likes of: Coldplay, The Script, Dido and many others.

Side Projects:

I also do a little bit of photography as well, although mainly music related - whenever I am out and about at various gigs I take photos of various performers I come across.

In October 2019 - I volunteered at Gaydio (LGBTQ+ radio station based in Manchester). I interviewed: Bang Bang Romeo, A me B & Bastette.

11th December 2022 - I performed with the Blackpool LGBTQ+ Choir (Now 'Electric Pink Voices') at The Old Electric in Blackpool. We also released a music video, "Love By The Sea" as well.

I also do some volunteering with Blackpool & Manchester Pride.
